Honda Atlas To Resume Production After 2 Months

Economic meltdown in the country has ceased the local car industry, which in turn has nudged the production and sales charts to zero. Even the old player, Honda Atlas observed a terrible downtrend in sales and production low this year.

In a recent notification, Honda Atlas stated that production would be resumed soon. The company has not mentioned the exact date. The carmaker mentioned a slight improvement in the accessibility of trade finance facilities for the supply chain.

Here is the company’s notification:

It bears mention that the production-shutdown episode incepted from March 9 till 31st. In the next notification, Honda Atlas Cars Limited (HACL) extended the production from April 1 to 15. And then, the new circular stated that the episode would be continued from April 16 to 30. In a previous notification, Honda Atlas announced the production cut from March-May 1 to May 15.

Back-to-back shutdowns have aggravated the company’s sales. As per the recent PAMA report, Honda Atlas car sales posted a staggering low of 75%, selling 207 units last month against 835 units in March ’23. Honda Atlas sold 159 units of City and Civic and 48 units of BR-V and HR-V.

Declining Sales

Coming to the sales as a whole, the report informed that car sales plunged by 85% year-on-year (YoY), selling 2,844 units in April ’23 compared to 18,626 vehicles sold in the corresponding period of last year.

Similarly, month-on-month sales witnessed a similar trend – decreased by 52% sold 4,463 last month vehicles against 9,351 cars in March. The reason behind this nosedive is the poor sales of Pakistan Suzuki and Honda Atlas last month.

Following its peer, Pak Suzuki Motors Company’s sales witnessed a new low of 74% in April, selling 1,474 cars. The company sold 5,628 cars in March. Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company sold 820 units of Alto, 177 units of Suzuki Cultus, 99 units of Suzuki Wagon R, 145 units of Suzuki Swift, 163 units of Suzuki Bolan, and 70 units of Suzuki Ravi.
